Intel created a new class of laptop called the Ultrabook—ultra thin and ultra powerful. So we showed our millennial audience how the Ultrabook fits right with who they are, and what they do.

How do you show the usefulness of your product when you only have 3 seconds to leave a lasting impression? By showing them what it’s capable of, instead just talking about it. Dymo created a product line of innovative and fun label makers. We created a compelling way to help their audience see its potential.  In the end, we let the labels do the talking.

Is it possible to make authentic French food thrive in Utah? To that we say “oui”. Two veteran Sundance chefs wanted to bring French comfort to the food scene in Park City, Utah. Their brand is more than just food, it’s “French food without the attitude.” So we embraced the stuffy stereotype to put people at ease with this new-to-them cuisine.

You can always say “clean” but to really stand out in a crowded industry you need to show “clean." Sonic Scrubber needed to educate consumers on the power their scrubbers are packing. So we crafted a campaign to show them just what kind of a machine they were picking up when they picked Sonic Scrubber.

Is it possible to see the benefits of good hearing? Absolutely. Siemen’s Hearing Instruments bring back the world of sound to those suffering from hearing loss. And to bring the incredible power of sound back in a traditional print medium, we visually added Siemen’s products to everyday sounds everyone can relate to.

How do you convince an industry rife with red tape, tradition, regulation, and more regulation that turn key technology can change everything? You start by speaking their language. 3M Health Information Systems built the foundation of medical billing and coding—the only problem is, nobody with a C at the beginning of their title had ever heard of them. So we caught their attention by acknowledging the inherent difficulties associated within the healthcare industry and showed how 3M’s knowledge and experience could ease their pain.

What makes people want to join a cause? A sense of belonging, altruism, even comradery... but a legendary football celebrity doesn’t hurt either. Archie Manning knows a thing or two about working as a team to accomplish something great. He just needed a little support from the rest of Mississippi. We helped the Manning Family Fund (the fundraising arm of the University of Mississippi Medical Center) make donating about more than hospitals—we made it about helping individuals, changing neighborhoods, and healing the state of Mississippi.

How do you cope with being diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer? You never stop fighting. No one expects to be diagnosed with cancer. That’s something that happens to someone else, until it happens to you. This video was a partnership between Intel and OHSU (Oregon Health and Science University) to tell the story of how one of Intel’s own is battling cancer using genomic sequencing and personalized care made possible with Intel technology.

What’s the best way to say a lot without saying anything? Smart iconography. With various divisions and departments creating their own materials, Intel’s iconography was disjointed. They needed a cohesive set of icons to be used throughout the company. Taking inventory of a wildly diverse set of icons across several divisions, we improved and unified them. Bringing the entire collection of icons in line with the brand’s look and feel.

No one struggling with thoughts of suicide should ever feel alone. EndSuicideNow.org was a proposed website to provide resources to individuals and their loved ones who are struggling with depression or suicidal thoughts.

Are there any similarities between a millennial and a baby boomer? Microsoft Services saw a need to help their teams better understand what motivates each generation and how that influences the way they view their careers. But since nobody was going to read the 112 page white paper we prepared, we scraped that and created a fun direct mail piece that shared how culture (specifically music) has defined each generation.

As a college student my area of focus was illustration. I soon discovered that I loved typography and letterforms too much to just be an illustrator. Over the years I have had the opportunity to create a couple typefaces for projects.  Here are two of my favorites.

Rouge
In designing the Easy Street logo, we created some unique letterforms to help give the logo an Industrial Revolution feel.  This font has a late 1800’s feel while incorporating both modern and traditional elements. After the initial branding was developed, I created a full character set and then used the typeface for headlines within the brand and advertising materials.

Union
This was personal project that blends characteristics of both traditional and modern typefaces into something clean and distinct.

What combines every great discipline found within the field of visual design?  Logos.  They involve conceptual thinking, communication, illustration, composition, line, form, light, balance and typography.  Out of all of the things I get to design, logos are my favorite.  Here are a few that I have created throughout my career.

How do you amp up brand loyalty for a company with a loyal fan base?  You make their loyalty wearable. We not only helped developed a clothing and merchandising line for Hoyt Archery’s bow hunting division, we helped cultivate the archery culture by giving customers the apparel they’ve been looking for.

The company was so excited about the deer skull visual, that it is now used on all of their branding and many of their products.

A series of illustrations created as part of a joint campaign between Intel and AWS (Amazon Web Services).  The challenge was to visually represent the insights that are gained through data analytics and high-performance computing. Each illustration accompanied a short story about how big data was being used to make aspects of life better.

I love the opportunity to create visual identities for companies, organizations and events.  Here are a few that I’ve created over the years.

This is an ongoing personal project to create portraits of historic and iconic 4x4 vehicles. My love for the old 4x4 started at early age and has only grown.  Being able to experience how capable these vehicles are has only increased my appreciation.  In this modern day of convenience, luxury, and same-same cars—owning one of these is an act of love.  They are more than trucks, they take on personalities and become members of the family.  With that in mind, I wanted document their unique faces. 

These will continue to be refined and added to in the future.
